HVAC: Residential helper
The fastest path to becoming an HVAC Technician starts with becoming a capable, confident HVAC Helper.
VoSKILL’s Full-Time HVAC Training Track is a 4-week, hands-on experience built to give you the skills employers actually look for on day one — tool use, safety, wiring basics, airflow, refrigerant fundamentals, troubleshooting, and real job-site behaviors.
You’ll train in the shop with instructors, work through guided online lessons at your own pace, and be supported as you prepare for pathways like EPA 608 and OSHA-10, which you’ll take through their official testing organizations.
Everything we teach is tied directly to real-world industry expectations — not theory — so you can step confidently into your first role as an HVAC Helper and start moving toward technician-level work.
Week 1
Introduction to VoSkill Training and how the HVAC trade works in the real world.
This week you’ll learn tool basics, trade math, hand and power tool safety, and get your first hands-on work in cooling fundamentals. It’s all foundation — the skills every strong helper needs from day one.
Week2
You’ll spend part of the week in the classroom learning the basics of electricity, copper and plastic piping, and system components. The rest of the week is in the shop practicing circuits, measuring, cutting, gluing, soldering, and brazing. This is where your hands start doing the work HVAC helpers do every day.
Week3
This week focuses on the professional habits employers value — communication, teamwork, safety, and customer awareness. From there, we move into compressors, heating systems, maintenance routines, and metering devices. You’ll begin tying together how different HVAC systems function and where helpers play a critical role.
Week4
The final week covers refrigerants, leak detection, evacuation, recovery/charging, and deeper troubleshooting practice. You’ll also work on workforce readiness — safety habits, communication, attitude, and making a strong first impression with employers. The week ends with practical shop scenarios where you bring everything together.
What Happens at the end
Your training wraps up with a skills review and an industry meet-and-greet where local HVAC professionals share what they look for in new helpers. It’s a chance to ask questions, understand expectations, and learn how to approach your first role in the trade. No pressure — just real insight from people in the field.
On-Line LEARNING
Some training modules are completed online at your own pace. These cover safety, environmental awareness, refrigerant handling basics, and other foundational concepts. The online material also supports your preparation for pathways like EPA 608 and OSHA-10, which are taken through their official certification organizations.
